MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – In August 2020 the volume of freight transported by rail in transit via Belarus totaled 2.5 million tonnes, up 11% from July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Railways.
The key freight included coal, petroleum products, iron ore, chemical and mineral fertilizers, grain, and container cargo. Cargo transportation of coal, oil products, ore, grain, sugar and other goods increased as compared to the previous month.
The largest volumes of transit shipments were registered in communication with Russia (1.9 million tonnes, up 13% against last month), including Kaliningrad Oblast (0.7 million tonnes, up 10%), Latvia (0.4 million tonnes, up 56%) and Kazakhstan (0.4 million tonnes, up 2%).
